Answers

What makes Film Fervor different from other platforms?

  • We’re supportive of your project before, during, and after your campaign.
In addition to helping your craft a detailed campaign strategy to maximize your success, we offer help in many stages of the film making process. We work with campaign creators to make sure they’re ready to launch. If they’re not, we provide a list of things to help prepare the campaign. Our goal is to help you raise the money you need to make your films and take some of the stress away from crowdfunding.
  • Our platform fees are the lowest in the business.
We offer the lowest fees in the crowdfunding platform world. This is because we know that those fees (some other platforms charge up to 10%) can really take a huge chunk out of an already stretched thin production budget. Your success in our success and we want to help you achieve success on the platform as well as being able to finish, produce, and distribute your films.
  • We offer promotion of your campaigns
As far as we know, we’re the only platform that actively assists you in promoting your campaign. While it is still up to you to promote and bring your audience to the party, we are constantly growing a network of contributors who #SupportIndieFilm and want to see you succeed.

How do you pay me?

It’s really easy. We use Stripe to handle all of our transactions, so you’ll need a Stripe Account (don’t worry, it’s free!) and a bank account connected to it.

How soon after my campaign ends will I get my money?

Funds from a successful campaign are deposited within 5-7 business days after the end of the campaign! Additionally, if any of your supporters credit cards are declined, we will automatically email them with instructions on how to enter a new payment method and will also re-attempt the charge every 48hrs until resolved. Funds from these ‘fixed’ payments will be transferred as they come through.

What are your crowdfunding fees?

The lowest in the business. Seriously. Film Fervor’s platform fees are 5%, but we also offer the opportunity for your contributors to cover that fee at checkout, so you keep more of the contribution. Credit Card processing fees are currently $0.30 + 2.9% of the contribution, but this will lower in time as volume rises. (Other platforms won’t tell you this, but we’re 100% transparent with our filmmakers!)

Can I pay with Paypal, Check, Money Order, or Cash?”

No. We only accept credit cards. But you can use any of the major cards and you can store them, securely, in your account for faster checkout.

What Crowdfunding model do you use?

We currently have two options available for you to choose:

  • Immediately Deliver Funds: (also known as fixed funding), processes payments immediately.
  • 100% Threshold: (also known as pre-authorization), takes payment information, but does not actually process the payment until the funding goal is reached. {This is fairly standard Crowdfunding, like Kickstarter, Indiegogo, etc, use)

We also have a subscription model available, for ongoing campaigns and series. Contact Us for more information if this fits your needs!

Wont Kickstarter or Indiegogo give me more exposure for my campaign?

Actually, that’s a common misconception among new crowdfunders. While Kickstarter and Indiegogo have been around for a long time and their sites pull in unbelievable amounts of traffic, the real statistics show that the average campaign gets only a small handful of views from the platform themselves. Meaning, they don’t do any of the promotional work for you. It is all up to you to get eyes on your campaign.

Yes, if you get featured on their home page there is likely to be a spike of traffic but the chances of that happening are slim unless you have a record-breaking campaign and huge numbers already.

Unlike the other platforms (which we love, mind you!) we actively send traffic to your campaigns and connect you with other like-minded people who want to see more indie movies made.

How do you help promote my campaign?

We’re the only crowdfunding platform, to our knowledge, that actively promotes it’s contributed campaigns. We do this in several ways, first through Podcast and our social media channels (Twitter) as well as through our list of partners. Our partners include film festivals, filmmaker forums, private groups, and individual investors who love indie film and want to see what you have to offer.

Keep in mind, this does not mean we do “all” of the promoting for you. It is still your responsibility to grow your own audience and to promote to them, get their support, and engage with them. What we do, in essence, is connect you to the larger organizations, leaders, and investors we’ve spent the last three years building relations with.
